Wilderness Forever: 50 Years of Protecting America’s Wild Places – This juried photography exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, a cornerstone of American environmental conservation, and explores the majesty, diversity, and value of the nation’s wilderness areas.
The Wilderness Act celebrates its 50th anniversary on September 3, 2014. The Smithsonian joined national celebrations with a new exhibit at the National Museum of Natural History featuring juried photography of wilderness areas from across the nation. Selected from over 5,000 entries, the exhibit’s award-winning images reveal America as you’ve never seen it before – wild, untouched and free.
The public was invited to vote for their favorite! Each month, the photograph with the most votes will be highlighted as that month’s winner. Votes were limited to just one person per day.
